Transporting your puppy home.
Bring a towel or blanket, a bowl, a bottle of water, a cuddly toy,
a pigs ear, a collar & light lead.
Your puppy will be very happy to sit on your lap or on the seat
next to you on the way home.
If you are concerned you can place the blanket in the passenger side
footwell as most of these are quite deep & secure.
He/she is likely to sleep most of the way home but will benefit from
experiencing your voice, touch & smells in order to begin the bonding
If you need to stop on the way home for a puppy toilet break, do not
stop at a popular spot eg. A Servo with a nice grassy area as you will
find lots of people will utilize that spot for their dogs & your puppy is
not fully protected from the deadly canine diseases until after his/her
2nd vaccination at 12 weeks.
If your puppy has been sleeping peacefully & then wakes & starts
wimpering or being unsettled, stop for a toilet break at an isolated spot
off the highway & offer a drink before starting off again.
Do not attempt to feed on the way home as this can contribute to
Your puppy will need a feed as soon as she settles in at his/her new
home & I do not feed them the morning they are to travel.
Please do give me a call in the next couple of days so I know your
pup is settling in well for you.
Remember; donít spoil your puppy.
